The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is planning to develop a digital hub for the exchange of data used in combinable crop supply chains.
It has outlined the Digital Grain Passport project, saying it is aimed at replacing the current paper passport processes - developed to allow end users to identify what post-harvest treatments had been applied to grain – with a hub on which data on cereals and oilseed could be shared along the supply chain around the UK.
Every combinable crop grower, haulier, merchant and processor would have access.
The plans on the earlier eGrain Passport pilot, which developed an operational system but stalled due to issues around the costs.
AHDB, a statutory levy board funded by the industry, has published a procurement notice for support in the new project to run over three years with the possibility of two one-year extensions.
